Affiliates and Collaborators
The foundation upon which
the Institute for Language and Information Technologies
rests is a culmination of many years’ work by
numerous individuals and organizations. Through much
collaboration
and joint effort, ILIT brings with it decades of research
and a multitude of project knowledge. Many people and
organizations have contributed through the years to
the building of this foundation, and the following
in particular
organizations with which ILIT has close affiliation:
Onyx
Consulting, Inc. is the commercial technology transfer
arm of ILIT. The company carries out R&D activities
where results of the basis research obtained at ILIT
(and prior to that, at NMSU CRL, see below) are extended
to broader coverage of languages and knowledge domains
and embodied in a variety of application systems that
are more advanced on the continuum from initial proof-of-concept
systems on small data sets through medium-scale prototypes
to broad-coverage comprehensive end applications.
The
Computing Research Laboratory (CRL), New Mexico State
University, where the three founding members of ILIT
all worked before coming to UMBC, continues to be a close
collaborator. ILIT and CRL jointly work on projects and
strongly rely on the processing and knowledge resources
available at either site for new initiatives.
CoGenTex,
Inc. is a partner with ILIT and CRL in the MOQA question-answering
project.
Center
for Education and Research in Information Assurance and
Security (CERIAS), Purdue University.
Dr.
Antonio Moreno Ortiz @ University of Malaga, Spain.
Linguistica ’98,
Inc. Dr. Michael Blekhman
Cogito is
a group of UMBC CSEE faculty members interested in any
of the many different aspects of human cognitive abilities
and especially their modeling using computers. |
