Tutorial
for Lexicon Acquisition in the Ontological Semantics Environment |
The links below represent chapters in our current tutorial for lexicon acquisition within the Ontological Semantic text-processing environment (for background, see Ontological Semantics by Nirenburg and Raskin, in press). This tutorial cannot be considered complete without some "initiation" by members of our group, but we believe that it is complete enough to be largely understood even without supplementary training. We hope, in the near future, to expand upon it, turning it into a book that will include the support materials that will render it a fully self-sufficient resource. This tutorial is also not finished - nor will it ever really be because in addition to being a tutorial, it acts as the holding place for ongoing correspondence and decision-making of the members our our group. Therefore we are not attempting to keep it perfectly "neat"; instead, we are using it for various development purposes whose traces will be noticed by outside readers. We will be happy to make the lexicon and the ontology it maps to available to colleagues for research purposes. If you are interested, please contact Sergei Nirenburg at sergei@umbc.edu. If you have any questions about the content of this tutorial, please address them to Marge McShane at marge@umbc.edu. |
